Middlebrook School Haunted Hallway Video 2010

Here it is – this year’s offering. It’s a bit toned down in the “scary” factor, but hopefully also still as funny as previous years. Some credit is in store: First for Jan for being such a great sport. I did not put her up to the makeup – that was her idea! Also, her voice is digitally altered throughout the video. The boys were very helpful as a crew with the lighting and special effects. The whole thing was done in front of a green screen (I will post the behind-the-scenes in the next few days) and we managed to shoot the whole thing in an hour or two… I particularly love the effect of Ryan’s face in the “Fifth-grader soup” clip, and the line after seeing Wyatt in the oven: “Oops, not quite done yet…”

My First Century

Well, I did it. 100.67 miles in just a minute of 6 hours. My knees and shoulders were complaining toward the end, and for 20 minutes after the ride my thighs were in pretty intense pain, but that subsided. The temperature was about 62 or so, so I didn’t think about the sun – and now I have cherry-tomato nose and my lips burn.

It was a great experience up and down the Connecticut shoreline along with a couple friends from church – encouraging along the way. Now, on to recovery, and plan the next one…

I made it!

Wyatt’s Birthday Mission

For Wyatt’s 9th Birthday party, I created a bunch of clues and hid them in envelopes around the house – each one leads to the next. This of course has about 10 boys running all over the house looking for clues that lead to more clues, that eventually make a map to the “stolen” goodie-bags!

We all love Mission Impossible here (the original TV series), so we made Wyatt’s birthday party a mix of “Halo” and Mission Impossible themes… Below is “should you choose to accept it” intro like that which was seen all the time on the series. Ryan did the Voice Over… and the kids all had a blast!

Perfect Day

Every year we do an entire DVD of the previous year. I also make a compilation – and that is why I wrote the song, to accompany it. Here is the Smith Family DVD compilation for 2009 accompanied by the song “Perfect Day” written by myself. The clips and photos are a preview of the DVD to come!
